Autoworld

Last Thursday and Friday, me and my gal went to the Brussels Autoworld. We had to go two days in a row, because on the first outing I got lost in Brussels and we had to head back home without even seeing a single classic car. That will teach me to leave without looking on the map.
The museum is built up with cars of the collection of Mahy, one of our biggest Renault dealers, so a lot of French cars were on display. There was also a nice tan 912 on the first floor and of course there had to be a Beetle on display. And what a fine example it was, a 50 split. At first glance I noticed the wrong bumpers and different headlights. I'm not a big connoisseur but I bet there's a lot more faulty details on this car. Who can spot them.
It was a fun day out, but the museum has known it's better days. Maybe we should all start a fund for the preservance of such a nice heritage and donate for some new carpets and displays.

Smallville SE

While cruising the Swedish Google, I couldn't help noticing this handywork of Darryl O, one happy Swede indeed. Living on the east coast, in a gigantic mansion with a pool, he has nothing better to do than fix scalemodels somewhere in the basement. This one being an amalgam of two monogram kits with an AMT corvair engine, aptly named Ghoulie Bulli. Nice, isn't it.

Blogged

You know when you post on blogger all of the sudden you get visitors from other blogs not even in the slightest bit related, don't ask how, but you do. Exceptionally I got this Belgian girl visiting me, she works at the hospital and had posted this retro work related picture. Lucky for us we do not have to look at the sordid bunch of male nurses, but I'm sure most of us are more than interested in the nice bus behind them. I completely forgot the blogs name, but had the intelligence to save this on my desktop for future references.

Triple F

Some fat fenders and one hell of a tail. In Belgium we would call this the Look, more specifically the Schellebelle Look. Even today this look is advocated by a lot of Square Bumper Beetle Drivers. So especially for them, this is the Swedish interpretation. And why Triple F then, you ask. Well that stands for Flat For Free, Belgiums main aircooled forum, and home to a lot of spoiled rides. But don't be mistaken, there's all kinds of cool guys hanging out too, a lot of lurkers too. So if you speak Dutch, drop in every time you can, because it is the one place where we stand united.

The sad Goodbye

Today, this was the only end of this car I could admire, as it was driving away with the new owner probably smiling behind the wheel, albeit the steady drizzle on his front window. Too bad she had to go but I did have to make room for the 62 notch I am about to win. And if not for that, for my nice black Swedish Oval, now rusting away on the wet grass at The Barons mansion.

Topless revisited

As promised last week, I still had to post the clue to the roofchopped T3 picture. I guess you can call this reckless driving if anything.
What's funny is that I have exactly the same bus, only difference is that mine is aircooled in a less effective way.

An early notch, anyone ? Pt2

For more info on this car you can visit the Central Coast VW Club. Overthere you'll also find out what the proceedings are meant for, some good cause, I guess. But hey they could donate my money to Lucifer for all I care if only they handed over the keys to this greyish granny. My 100 bucks will be in the mail later tonight. Want to take a chance Ffred?

An early notch, anyone ?

While cruising on the Samba, I found out you can get hold of this sweet baby, just by buying a few raffle tickets and a healthy dose of luck. It's a really early type 3 Notchback, namely a 62, restored to the nines by Americas authority on Type threes. Only 20 greenbacks for a chance in 1200 to win this car, the only drawback is you have to pick it up in California.

Ralleye Bil

And if you're really, really into type threes, brush up on your Swedish and go visit the Swedish Type Three Registry. This car is one of the subscribers rides. I really love the ralleying theme to it, what with the chequered flag pinstriping and the huge dragkroks on the front bumper.

Topless Pt3

Posting Topless topics without even showing something remotely nude would really upset some of the more perverted readers of my blog, and I'm not thinking of anyone in particular, but if you like Type Threes, you really should visit his blog as he knows his stuff from the inside out.
By the way, as with almost everything even this is VW related. Just take a good look at the fabric between her legs and you might just figure out why.

Topless Pt2

The private who did this might also be in a lot of trouble, do they bring you in front of the court marshall for shananigans like this.
If you haven't seen what caused this yet, make sure to tune in for part 2 of this gag sometime later this week. Just a question of breeding a little loyalty to my blog.

Topless

I wouldn't want to be the driver of this truck, reporting to his boss in the evening. Not after I'd mistaken a low bridge for the wide open plains of the USA. Lucky for this guy, he only destroyed the top three, not a scratch on the beetles below.

Serious Collector Pt4

The man himself with the other Barndoor he owns, a nice and crusty 11-window. Once it was overviewing one of Swedens nice valleys, never to be looked at again. Now it is stored nice and dry with its brethren. Again, go look for yourselves, at this nice collection up North.

Serious Collector Pt3

And this is the other 46, which I guess is way beyond restoration. Still, he does own it and it's worth more than its weight in at least Iron, maybe even lead. He managed to salvage some parts of it though.

Serious Collector Pt2

This is one of the 46 cars, now under restoration, sandblasted to bare metal.

Serious Collector

Speaking of Collectors, this one is topping it of. A picture of his Lada (which is not a car but means barn) filled to the brim with splitwindows of the type 1 and 2 variety. Two 46, seven 50, only one 51 and another five 52 beetles and a plethora of seven Busses amongst which a 54 Barndoor Samba. All of them in varying condition from restored to under restoration to bare shells to sheetmetal. Have a look for yourselves at his barn in Sweden.

Loaded

This looks like the cabinet next to my Grandmothers lounge chair, full of little trinkets. This proves that even in Sweden you have big collectors of VW paraphenellia. And still a lot of their cars and stuff are being shipped every day, that truly means it is the land of plenty.
Who can name every single accessory on this car, I'm sure someone can.

Mars attacks

Now this one is a hoot. I also snatched this picture from the swedish forum, but in turn they snatched it from the samba a few years back. But it is to nice a fucked up car to forget about it, so here it is again. Maybe we should cut Long Tall Von der S. his T34 up for a metalflaked remake.

Kubel Cabbe

If you don't have the money for the real thing, why not build yourself an exact copy then. Surely, that's what this Kraut must have thought. But you have to admire his attention to detail, look at the nippled hubcaps, even on the sparewheel. And of course the shovel.

You're in the army now Pt3

This could be anywhere, but I'm guessing Hessisch Oldendorf a few years back in the military section. Someone who has actually been there can hopefully correct me if I'm wrong.

You're in the army now Pt2

The inside of this car is still looking top notch in these pictures. I don't know if the radio and stuff like that is still on board, I sure do hope so. Adds a lot to the value of the car, even though it kind of cramps the footwell of your beloved.

You're in the army now

While strolling around trough the archives of one Swedish Bubblor forum, I found these pictures of rather familiar army spec Oval Beetle, dating back to 2003. This one has overcome and is now running in Belgium, I believe it was sold by Bucks and Busses. I hope the new owner likes some history of his car.

It is Plain to C, this is my destiny Pt3

Here you are, one last shot of the interior. Only one thing about this car troubles me, the date on the pictures. This has a lot to tell about either the state the car is in now or the capacity of the owner to make a correct setup on his camera. For the price this car is selling for it should be the lather. More than 25000 Euros will get you this baby.

It is Plain to C, this is my destiny Pt2

Look at that perfect behind, no orange peel there, which is no mean feat, as according to herself, even Tyra Banks has trouble with that.

It is Plain to C, this is my destiny

Yet another beautifull car for sale in Sverige. A nice 356, no less, to bad it is only a C. Still I would be happy to drive around town in this V dubs nasty Nephew.

Cover's blown Pt2

The Pinstripings were also done in gloss black, as not to make this car the main attraction of every event. Sobriety is Guillermo's main virtue, except when it comes to Mojito's, then sobriety is way gone.
He was quite happy to recieve his present on the day of his return, I couldn't be there, I had to work my daytime job, but I'm sure some tears were shed. Thanks should also go out to his Mom and Dad who kindly trusted us with the keys to Wims Garage.

Cover's blown.

As Guillermo was gone to Mexico for three weeks, we saw the opportunity clear to rejuvenate his trusty notchback a wee bit. We as in, Low fast Bus , The Baron of French Fries and Mr. Stripe, decided on respraying his greying front fenders in a flat black close enough to the color of his car, and his roof in a very daring gloss black, as every true S type should have one. We then topped it off with some pinstripings all around.

Top Secret Mission

Those who are let in on the secret will know that this is one hot tip concerning our secret mission. I can't say a lot, already said to much. Conspiracy theories are more than welcome.

Oval country

I'm thinking about swapping my black Oval for this nice tanned sister of her. This has Cal look spelled out for you, even though they used a 90ties alphabeth. But put on some sexy wheels and loose the eyebrows and you're back in the game. I'd better make contact soon if I want to have it.
Oh yeah, there is one downside to this 57, it is on a 64 chassis, so, so far for originality.

Sandloppa Pt3

And it does pull wheelies !!! Amazing isn't it.

Sandloppa Pt2

It is flat4 powered, this is proof of that. I wonder if Belgiums Besiktigung would allow this contraption on the road. Or are you in doubt about it being road legal?

Sandloppa

Now this is something we don't see that often, but for the last few months I've seen several for sale in Sweden, it has probably something to do with the vast acres of open land they have around there, free to roam as they please. I wouldn't want to be seen in one of those though, what use for a "tjejmagnet" if there is no buddy seat to take her for a spin to the nearest haybarn.

When it starts thawing in Hell

Last time I checked, Sweden is still too cold an bloody dangerous to head for. There are some nice cars to be found though. What with everyone turning to type threes now, you might be the forerunner of things to come, go ahead and buy this nice foursome. Almost perfect in OG paint, no rust on the floor and just a few dings an dents to massage out of this old ladies body. And all that for the price of a ragged young beetle, and you can't even start to compare the comfort and luxury of these cars. But I guess you have to be strong of heart to not run with the pack.

And for the main event

If you own a Type 3, make sure to head down to Ninove this year as the will be highlighted by Ffred and Mr. K. on this years Freddy files. But don't be ashamed to show up in some ragged old bug or bus, as the meeting is more than open, Ffred is used to more than open, for any aircooled volkswagen. Let's just hope it won't get as wet as to what Ffred is used to.

Nice to be back

After two weeks of building boats, my other lifelong passion, and one week on a top secret mission, soon to be revealed on the DVF-blog, I'm back. And this time with a vengeance, as they tend to say with lots of bravado.
Oh and by the way, although plans are in the pipeline to build a Flat4 powered speedboat, I haven't been working on small ones like this nice Volksliner this time, I have been working on 40 metres of solid steel.
